Aronowitz, Bratsis, DiFazio & Gulli are editors of the new journal 'Situations' which intends to address the current malaise of the radical imagination in both left theory and in popular consciousness. Their aim is to explore the social conditions and lived experiences that lead to this malaise and to support explanations which do not reduce political phenomena to a reflection. 'Situations' will foster modes of thinking that recognize the creative role that society plays in its own production. In opposition to simple determinisms, 'Situations' will attempt to show the contingencies and peculiarities of political phenomena.
Stanley Aronowitz is author of 'How Class Works: Power & Social Movement' and teaches sociology at the CUNY Graduate Center. Peter Bratsis is author of 'Everyday Life & the State' and teaches political theory at University of Salford. William DiFazio is author of 'Ordinary Poverty: A Little Food & Cold Storage' and teaches sociology at St. John's University. Bruno Gulli is author of 'Labor of Fire: Ontology of Labor Between Economy & Culture' and teaches philosophy at Long Island University.
Bill Harvey is an activist and Baltimore labor historian. Kostis Papadantonakis is a retired professor of economics at Essex Community College. Fred Pincus teaches sociology at University of Maryland Baltimore County.
