Opening night: First Friday, May 5, 2006, 6 p.m.

Radical political posters have long been a feature of American culture
and politics. From handbills posted during the Revolutionary War to
wheatpasted posters put up by anti-capitalist activists, radical street
art has been vital to political discourse in this country. Radical art
in public spaces has made a comeback in the past 15 years. Stencil art,
graffiti, guerrilla art, billboard alteration, posters and other format
have exploded into and onto public spaces. Much of the content of this
art reflects opinions and ideas that most Americans never see or hear in
the mainstream corporate media.

We are excited about this renaissance in radical political art, so we’ve
decided to organize a show featuring contemporary radical poster art. We
are calling on radical political artists to share with Kansas City what
you’ve been doing as an artist and political activist.

This show is being organized by Chuck Munson and Mott-ly. Chuck is an
activist, librarian and artist who runs the popular Infoshop.org
website. Mott-ly is a collage artist and sculptor who runs the MoMo
Gallery in the Crossroads District of Kansas City, Missouri.

Please send one or two items. We have limited space and want to feature
as many artists as possible. Send a legible address so we can return art
after the exhibition.

Please send a brief bio, artist statement, and information about your
pieces.
