Moment of Silence for the Youth Victims of Homcide

Baltimore's Moment of Silence for the Youth Victims of Homcide, February 10, 2006, 12 Noon.
January 26, 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Subject: Baltimore's Moment of Silence for the Youth Victims of Homcide, February 10, 2006, 12 Noon

The Ex-Felons Committee of Baltimore, a group composed of ex-felons committed to changing the lives of young people in the city of Baltimore through intervention counseling, mentoring and social action announces that it is sponsoring a moment of silence for the youth victims of homicide in Baltimore City. The committee, through its chairman Walker Gladden III, has previously sought to highlight citizens' awareness of the number of homicides in general and specifically the number of youth homicides in Baltimore.

In order to further encourage dialogue and solutions to this problem the committee is asking all of the citizens of Baltimore and other concerned individuals to stop whatever they are doing and pray, meditate and contemplate the crisis now going on in the streets of this city. We, the committee, believe that these 60 seconds will help all of us to further focus on this crisis and to seek solutions to an ever growing EPIDEMIC that is taking the lives of our young people.

We ask for you and your organizations support on this critical issue. Pass the word around that we can no longer accept the slaughter of our young people. Pass the word that the future of this city, our homes and our neighborhoods hinges on each and every one of us doing something positive in order to curb this crisis.

Rose Street Community Center is a 501 (c)(3) and 509(a) non-profit agency under the Federal Internal Revenue Service Code.

"Care enough about the children to take a moment of silence."

Sincerely,

The Ex-Felons Committee of Baltimore
