Errors Of An IMC Editor.
On conflicts with the community in
reporting by administrators at
alternative news outlet.
Reporting from Washington, D.C.
On January 5th, 2006, I posted
the article, "Why I Did It", giving
reason for going to the public and
informing them about IMC administrators
abusing the main purpose of the
Independent Media Center: "An
alternative to corporate media".
And secondly, taking the kind
nature of the public who have the
ability to donate to non-profit
organizations. My response, acting
on behalf of the public, was urging
the worthy people to temporarily
cease donations to the IMC until
this matte is rectified.
After posting this report, Baltimore
IMC editor, going by the name
"Sparkplug", immediately reponded
the same day. My story lies from
public view in the "Hidden
Articles" section. Which is quite
interesting, considering the
Independent Media Center is an
"alternative to corporate media",
where the public needs to be informed
about the goings on not only in their
community, but those people who are
reporting it.
At any rate, Sparkplug has brought
it to my attention, since the issue
that Iam concerned with is, IMC's
doing the same things that
corporate media does, that Iam
in the wrong. He has, for some
strange reason, claimed that
mainstream media does not report on
protests or demonstrations, which
is why the Independent Media Center
has taken upon itself to do it's
civic duty. Obviously, considering
his name, "Sparkplug", evidently
he needs more assembely done to his
"automobile if this is the kind of
vehicle he is driving on the internet.
