Reporting from Washington, D.C.

When it is not good enough for
Microsoft Corporation and the Bill
and Melinda Gates Foundation, then
it is certainly not good enough
for the public who can afford to
donate.

On Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005,
freelance journalist Elijah
Gatewood made it final, but a
temporary grievance, against
the Independent Media Centers
for continuing to mislead the
public in reporting. Philadelphia
and Baltimore Independent Media
Centers were notified Saturday,
November 19th, 2005; D.C. brought
up to date, Monday, November
21st, 2005. All notices were
posted on the newswires, but
D.C. deleted it the same day,
keeping the public from knowing
about turmoil created by the
Independent Media Centers in the
community. Gatewood delivered
a grievence straight by email
to the Microsoft Corporation
and the Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation. The renegade
journalists chief concern is that
editors at the Independent Media
Centers have drowned out worthy
reporting by covering protests,
demonstrations and rallies, which
is basically the area of corporate
media, IMC'S rival.
"Administrators", Gatewood states,
"have also pulled stories that
editors prejudicioously believed
were "personal attacks" against
government or civic officials".
"Yet", the journalist furhers that,
"these same officials have
continously attacked the
community with their illegal
policies".

The Independent Media Centers,
a news and non-profit entity that
is global and has news affiliates
in each state of the United States,
were established in 1999 as "An
alternative to corporate media".
It's partial headliner also
reads above all of it's websites:
"Passionate tellings of truth".
However, as Gatewood maintains, it
has departed from both those
missions. This matter, in addition,
is a temporary grievance, giving
IMC editors sixty days to correct
grave mistakes in reporting, or
face a permanent grievance. It
will be at that time Gatewood will
urge all businesses and individuals
to not donate to the Independent
Media Centers.

"Journalism is more than just
reporting events, it is about
being responcible", Gatewood
says. "The attrocities that occur
in the United States and in the
world would not be continuing
if IMC editors did their jobs".
