we were stopped by the cops. they collected intelligence and then we broke up.
the problem was that people are mad at bicyclists not sharing the road. it's not fair to SUV drivers who are impatient. about five cars illegally passed in front of the cop. the cop pulled us over.
why? to find out our political affiliation, of course, why else would cops pull people over? definately not for breaking the law. that was the reason given AND because we are angering drivers.
before that, it was a nice ride. we got called dirty hippies and rode to fort detrick.
as we passed by a group of homeless, they cheered us on.
the moral was: we need more people. and the police told us to we shouldn't go on major roads, which as it turned out was every road downtown. but then we can't go on the highway, suburbans would be mad too and the folks in the country would also not be happy.
they said we could ride in the park. but i'm afraid that 20 riders in baker park would cause property damage in rainy weather.
even though car exhaust has been scientifically proven to cause cancer, and the police by all rights, should hassle those releasing harmful toxins into the air, the bicyclist should be the main concern of the police because, dammit, people need to get to places in my car as fast as possible.
there will be another critical mass on september 3rd, in support of the equality rally in baker park.
otherwise we meet the last friday of each month also in baker park but at 6pm.
