Camden Workers Go Unpaid, March on Peter Angelos
Camden Yards cleaners are again being made to work without pay this season! Through an investigation of Superior Staffing have uncovered dozens of workers who are working and still have not received their pay checks or are missing hours when they do get paid.
"How is it that after years of abuse which we brought to light at the stadium... could anything like this happen again? commented Jason Perry at a recent emergency meeting of the UWA.
The UWA, who represents the Camden Yards cleaners, is working with Knight Facitilies Management, the contractor to ensure that all workers are paid for all their hours.
In the meantime, Superior Staffing has all but lost the contract with Knight Facilities Managemetn because of this investigation.
"Now we got to keep up the pressure on Peter Angelos. We had a great day yesterday march to his office asking the lunch time crowd if they could live on the wages we do... Could you pay your rent for seven dollars an hour? Pay for health insurance or school on seven dollars an hour? Peter Angelos made an agreement with the UWA that would ensure we earned a living wage... we are still waiting for him to honor this agreemetn" stated, Dennis Burns, UWA leader.
The UWA is regularly protesting at Peter Angelos's offices at Lexington and Charles. AS part of our Summer of Honor campaign we are organizing a rally for June 17th at Camden Yards, Eutaw Street Entrance at 6:30 pm.
