Lets discuss what we can do to win justice
Every year Baltimore cops make over 100,000 arrests in a city with only 643,000 people. 33% are never charged. That means millions of hours in jail for people in Baltimore who have committed no real crime. It means doing time in cold, hard cells where you can’t even find a place to sit. Sometimes it means losing your job because you’ve been locked up. This could happen to you if it hasn’t already.
But that’s just part of part of the story. The police have been getting away with beatings, killings, racism and disrespect.
It’s time to come together and say NO to injustice!
For those who are jailed and charged, there is no justice in the system. The system is rigged against us.
The real crime is that this is a city with more rats than people. It’s a city of people without decent paying jobs in a state that is the fifth richest in the country. And instead of funding schools, education and healthcare-the Congress and Senate voted to spend an additional $ 82 billion for the Iraq war.
But you don’t see police focused on those crimes.
Now Baltimore is putting cameras on the street to watch you 24/7. But you won’t find any cameras or police tailing landlords who charge high rent for places filled with code violations. They don’t follow BGE officials when they send out ridiculous bills and cut people off. They look the other way when the City fails to provide effective free drug treatment for everyone who needs it, but they are quick to arrest the poor addict. They don’t arrest corporate heads of hospitals when sick people can’t get the care and prescriptions they need. They aren’t arresting the head of Exxon for gasoline price rip offs even though everyone cans see their profits racing up as the price goes up.
Youth are labeled as criminals while our city schools have no toilet paper and the water is filled with lead. Instead of education and recreation—youth are forced into jail or the military.
