The Bonehead Compendium, Vol. 49

Oh gentle readers, the predations of Congress are really becoming absurd: nosing into things they have no constitutional business nosing into and we bring you our take on the latest in Senate politicking. Wolfowitz is George Bush's pick to head the World Bank, which is perfectly in keeping with all the other people he has appointed to positions for which they are generally unqualified. News of the White House propaganda machine came out, Bush has his sights on Montana and those cheap energy rates they have there, and, yep, Wal-Mart is here again. Remember, its where prices are low and ethics and legality, lower.

Army Cancels Special Ops Bible Project, Seeks to Create Loophole to Evade FOIA Request

Rather than publicly disclose details about its planned production of 10,000 modified Bibles, the U.S. Army Special Operations Command has withdrawn a purchase order that it placed with the International Bible Society (IBS) to carry out the project.

The Army's abrupt cancellation of its planned contract with IBS is a blatant attempt to circumvent the federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Its cancellation of the order for enhanced Bibles couldn’t be more suspect: the agency withdrew the order after receiving my request for related photos and documents I had submitted under the FOIA.

The Bonehead Compendium, Vol 48, The Troops

Do you ever get tired of seeing those annoying ribbon magnets on giant SUVs? Yeah, we know the feeling. We also know that most of the people driving around with those things on their ridiculous vehicles have no idea just how the Bush administration actually does "support" those troops they never stop harping about. Well, we here at the BHC have finally decided to collect a few of the latest stories regarding the disregard and blatant abuse some or many soldiers are experiencing at the hands of the band of flag-waving chicken hawks.

So the BHC presents our special Troop Edition, a review of just how the White House and the Republicans really show their support for the armed forces they so willingly engage in war and use as tools to deflect criticism of themselves.
