The media has been a sphere from which critcism of governments and proposals for change came forth. However, during the last 15 years, with the expansion of global capital, the power of neoliberal institutions, and the concentration of the media industry, this critical function has been increasingly lost--"the voice of those who have no voice" is disappearing. Ignacio Ramonet comments on this situation and proposes Media Watch Global as a critical weapon against the media monopoly.

A series of letters supposedly written by US troops in Iraq detailing their successes in the country were all written by their commander, it has emerged.

If only the American people could see through the Zionist Propaganda Machine. And, if they could also begin to imagine a city like Erie, PA, and its 103,000 citizens, being brutalized by the IOF, then maybe they, too, would demand an immediate end to these Israeli “war crimes” (“Amnesty International,” 10/14/03, London, UK).

I had the unique opportunity to interview five US military servicemen who just got back from Iraq, or in the case of two men, corresponded with their wives so that I could ask questions of these soldiers by mail.
