American poet Philip Levine, who has written about the lives of working men and women and the struggle for social justice in America in countless books of poetry, read at Johns Hopkins University on Oct. 12, 2006. The reading was free and open to the public. Levine was an inspiring, funny, powerful, and fierce force, reading mostly new work as a poet now in his mid-70s.

Prisons: Alexander Wants 50K Inmates Released

Governor Schwarzenegger has declared a state of emergency to reduce the over crowed conditions in California prisons; and under the governor’s proclamation 5,000 inmates will be transferred to other states. Stewart Alexander, with the Peace and Freedom Party, says the governor’s plan is doomed to failure before the first prisoner is transferred out of state. “Under the governor’s plan eventually California will need prison space in all 50 states.”

If Christian leaders are going to go around attacking others for not living up to their professed values, it's a damn good idea to be truthful and actually walk the walk. Logs and motes in the eye, camels through the eye of a needle, glass houses, kettles and pots, and what goes around comes around, et al. Karma's a bitch when She finally decides enough is enough! This wouldn't have been so bad on Republicans if they hadn't been such arrogant hypocrites in order to corner the so-called values voters!

I do use the term 'cover up' with reason.Both Arkansas gubernatorial candidates either know Republicans and Republican connected business fronts,mainly penny stock scams are both defrauding investors as well running drugs.The Republican 'company', Skyway Communications of Lakeland, Florida demonstrates this all too well.I wonder why Asa or Crist never managed to bust no big time Republican drug traffickers ? They may turn out to be the biggest whether in Mena Arkansas of Iran Contra days....or Afghanistan opium or the Republican 'company' Skyway Communications busted in Mexico in April with over 5.5 tons of cocaine on board for example.......
