With TARP emergency spending measures introduced by the George W Bush administration and subsequent additions to this it makes sense. People from across the political landscape were upset by the idea the very people responsible for the reckless behavior which led the country and world to such a perilous financial position were being given a free pass and a taxpayer financing to boot. Worse was the fact they were handed taxpayer dollars.
