John Mearsheimer: Israel's Real Purpose In Its Atrocities in Gaza
19 Jan 2009
by
John Mearsheimer
John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago, co-author of the paper (available online) and subsequent book (with Stephen Walt) _The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy_, presents a concise timeline description and absolutely the clearest account of the true reason behind Israel's wanton atrocities in Gaza.
Mearsheimer argues that diminishing Hamas or stopping their rockets are subsidiary goals for Israel, to Israel's more central goal of controlling all of historical Palestine via an "Iron Wall" policy that would permanently subjugate the Palestinian people and ensures Israeli control of all Palestinian land, air, water, borders/sea, and economy.
Mearsheimer points out that this goal cannot be achieved, and certainly not by the brutal method of a total war on the Palestinian people. The likely outcome even in the case of relative Israeli success is a permanent Apartheid, which itself will [thankfully] doom Israel as a chauvinistically and exclusionary "Jewish State" [and its racist state ideology of Zionism].

New Felony RNC Charges filed against two from Milwaukee

Solidarity with RNC Arrestees
New Felony RNC Charges filed against two from Milwaukee. Two people, Karen Meissner and Christina Vana, from Milwaukee are facing new felony charges, specifically aiding and abetting second degree assault, for allegedly throwing a street sign off of a bridge and almost hitting a police officer during the Republican National Convention last September. This is yet another attempt by the state to stifle forms of resistance in the US. As long as it remains an effective technique in spreading fragmentation and paralysis the state will continue to do so. Yet as we continue to act and generalize forms of material and affective solidarity we may find within the coldest winter an invincible summer.

How Much Does A Mercenary Cost?
18 Jan 2009
by
Sudhama Ranganathan
When the Bush Administration decided for the American public
that there would be no fair bidding process to ensure the best
possible deal for the taxpayers in return for support services
provided during the War in Iraq they signed us on for more than
just what is at face value. We know the American people are on the
hook to Halliburton, its subsidiaries and all its sub-contractors
for billions of dollars as long as we are in Iraq. This includes
whoever Halliburton chooses for hotel services, food supplies and
of course their private security contractors. Since 9/11 American
concerns over private security, their costs (financial and
otherwise) and their role in our national security have come under
scrutiny.

Is a Card Check Compromise possible under the Employee Free Choice Act?
16 Jan 2009
by
Employee Free Choice Act Now . Org
Barack Obama told the Washington Post yesterday he might compromise on the Employee Free Choice Act because "there may be other ways to achieve the same goal without angering businesses. And while many Democrats on Capitol Hill are eager to see a quick vote on that bill, he indicated no desire to rush into the contentious issue."
