The 15-nation Caribbean Community refused to contribute troops to the peace-keeping force in Haiti and has called for an investigation into President Aristide's removal from power conducted by the United Nations or other similar international body. South Africa offers Mr Aristide asylum if requested. The Haitian consul general in New York argues that Mr Aristide is still the country's legitimate president. Andrew Gumbel reports.
